The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) at the YMCA is a nationally recognized tuition-free preschool for eligible children who will be 4 years of age by December 1st. The YMCA and Great Start Readiness Program brings together a unique combination of resources to ensure that children gain the skills and knowledge to successfully begin kindergarten.

Providing quality, affordable care for your children is not just a business to the Y. It is our cause–a vital part of our commitment to the community. It is an approach that includes unique programs to make sure kids stay motivated intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.

Our Early Childhood Center recognizes that play is children’s work, and that providing a rich environment where creative play promotes cognitive, emotional, physical and social development is critical to your child’s health. Our program is language rich, with emphasis on offering the children pre-reading and pre-writing experiences that will spark a lifelong love of language. Our staff develops character activities that reflect the YMCA emphasis on honesty, caring, responsibility and respect.

“The GSRP program is built to help develop the necessary skills for children to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. I love that it is available for children and also that it allows and encourages families to participate as much as possible. It has impacted my life in many ways. Honestly I get to learn as much from the children as they are learning from me. They help me see the small things in life as the rewards they are. The children help me to be the best version of myself,” says Sarah Wrinkler, Lead GSRP Teacher.

“Caleb really enjoyed being in class this year. He met tons of new friends and has thoroughly enjoyed both Ms. Sarah and Shelina. What I really loved was Caleb’s improvement. Mentally, physically, emotionally and verbally. We would get home and do our daily follow ups and he’d always start with “Did You Know…..”. I loved reviewing facts and learning new things from him,” Says Taylor Hopkins, Caleb’s mother. “My experience with Ms. Sarah was amazing. She was attentive with Caleb. She followed up on the concerns and questions that I had. Overall, being in this class has made an impact on the both of us. I highly recommend the GSRP to everyone and their little ones”.
