The Y aims to improve the nation’s health and well-being by providing programs and activities that promote wellness, reduce risk for disease and help others reclaim their health. These programs and everything else the Y does are in service of making us—our Ys and our communities—better. The result is a country that values health and communities that support healthy choices.

We know that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing mind, body and spirit, well-being and fitness at the Y goes beyond just working out. In addition to fitness facilities, we provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions, and offer a variety of programs that support physical, intellectual and spiritual strength.

Our Ys offer classes for all ages, all levels and all interests. From low-impact exercise and chair classes to strength training, indoor cycling, and yoga, you’ll find a group class that’s fun, supportive and keeps you moving. Our classes are led by certified instructors who teach proper technique, provide guidance and encourage participants to achieve goals.

Water Fitness

Water Fitness

The pool is great for exercise because the water offers resistance while reducing the impact of land-based exercises. Water fitness classes are a fun way to exercise, and the low-impact workout builds strength and flexibility for people of all ages. Our Ys water fitness classes use a variety of exercises and equipment. Activities may include dance, calisthenics, walking, and kicking, and typically intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Classes may take place in shallow water, deep water or a combination of shallow and deep water.

Our cardio and aerobic dance classes are designed to get your heart rate up to exercise levels while having fun. We provide a variety of upbeat classes to help you raise your energy level and achieve your fitness goals.

Cross training mixes cardio, muscular strength and muscular endurance for a total workout. It’s an excellent way to add variety to your workout program, and our Ys offer a range of cross training programs that are challenging and fun.

Strength Training classes use resistance tools like weights, stability balls and stretchy bands to strengthen your muscles. Our coaches will maximize your exercise efficiency and ensure correct technique. Some classes work through the whole body while others focus on specific muscle groups.

Our Ys offer health and well-being classes for youth and teens to help them develop healthy exercise and wellness habits that and maintain a healthier lifestyle as they grow. Our programs promote healthy lifestyles and we encourage the youth to share their experiences with their families.

You’ll move at a pace that is comfortable for you—-it’s never more than you can handle, and the group support will help keep you motivated.

Blood Pressure Management

Blood Pressure Management

Research shows that the simple process of checking and recording your blood pressure at least twice a month over four months may lower blood pressure in people with high blood pressure. Blood Pressure Management is an evidence-based program that combines education about proper nutrition with a reduction in sodium with physical activity to guide participants to a considerable reduction in blood pressure.
