Tux & Tens: Detroit Achievers Awards

Y Detroit Achievers are professionals who volunteer as role models for Detroit youth. Throughout the service year, Achievers demonstrate the benefits of hard work, service, professionalism, integrity, educational achievement and community involvement in one or more year-round initiatives. Their service reaches more than 1,000 young people each year. Detroit Achievers volunteer an average of 20 hours annually in activities such as:
- Career exploration or leadership seminars
- Industry tours and volunteer internships
- Planning committees for Y events
- Gender-specific group mentoring/tutoring
- Other activities support the community and align with your interests

Youth Champion – $15,000
Serves as a Corporate Sponsor and Partner for the Tux & Tens event. Sponsors 10 students to work as interns for the summer. Enables 200+ high school students to participate in life skills programming, health and fitness, career development and community service for eight months from October to May. (Sponsor nominates five Adult Achievers, receives 4 VIP tickets at the event, the opportunity to present an award and three summer interns)
Youth Ambassador – $10,000
Supports 200+ high school students to tour and explore Michigan colleges and universities once monthly for eight months October-May. (Sponsor nominates five Adult Achievers, receives 3 VIP tickets at the event, one summer intern and includes signage)
Youth Advocate – $5,000
Supports 100+ after school workshops that give teens a safe place to learn and play. (Sponsor nominates two Adult Achievers, receives 3 VIP tickets at the event and includes signage)
Youth Mentor – $2,016
Employs and trains one young person for the summer. (Sponsor nominates two Adult Achievers, receives five event seats, and company mentioned in the presentation)
Youth Leader – $1,500
Provides 100 teens with after school supplies for the school year. (Sponsor nominates one Adult Achiever, receives 2 VIP tickets at the event, includes signage, and company mentioned in the presentation)
Youth Supporter – $500
Purchases books and supplies for a first year college student. (Sponsor nominates one Adult Achiever, 2 general admission tickets and name mentioned in presentation)
