Taking care of children is an important job with serious responsibilities. Our Babysitter Safety Training (BLAST for short) teaches youth ages 11 and up the skills needed to look after and care for young children.
Babysitter Safety Training at the YMCA
Blast is a video and discussion based forum, typically held in a two day session for 2 hours each session. Once the course is completed each registered participant will receive a certificate of completion.
The course will cover:
- ages and stages of development and age appropriate activities
- basic care for infants and children
- job seeking advice
- general safety tips
- what to do in the event of a fire or other emergency
- and how to administer Standard First Aid and CPR
This forum is also beneficial for older children to learn about at-home safety.
