Our Active Older Adult programs are designed to strengthen not only muscles, but the whole person. Whether it’s in the pool, on a walk or at a chair yoga class, our programs welcome seniors into a community and encourage them to achieve and prolong good health.

Active Older Adult – Cardio

This class offers an intense cardio workout, while having fun, by helping to improve cardio endurance through easy-to-do movement patterns. All levels of fitness are welcome.

Active Older Adult – Chair Fit Balance and Stretch

Active Older Adult Chair fit uses a variety of exercises to improve balance and core stabilization as well as flexibility.

Active Older Adult – Classic

A low-impact class that offers a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities for daily living. If needed, a chair is available for seated and standing support.

Active Older Adult – Strength and Conditioning

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises to improve strength, range of motion, and daily-living skills. You will use hand-held weights, elastic tubing handles and a ball for resistance, and a chair for seated and/or standing support.

Cross-training

Moving For Better Balance

The principles and movements of Tai Chi are used to help older adults increase their strength, improve their balance, and increase their confidence in doing everyday activities. The program protocol consists of a core 8-form routine and a subroutine of eight integrated therapeutic movements forms that have been derived from the traditional 24-form Yang-style of Tai Chi, progressing from easy to more difficult which collectively involve a set of simple, rhythmic Tai Chi-based actions.
