What is a digital business card?
Digital business cards are electronic versions of traditional paper business cards. Instead of handing out physical cards, you can share your contact information with people you meet directly from your phone via a scannable QR code.

Accessing and saving your card

Find your card in the employee directory on this page, or visit ymcadetroit.org/people/firstname-lastname (replacing firstname and lastname with your first and last name).
Saving your card
Saving your card to your phone’s home screen will allow you to access it offline.
Here’s how to save your card:
- Open the web browser on your phone and navigate to your card.
- Once the page has fully loaded, tap on the browser’s menu button (typically represented by three dots or lines on Android Device, or the box with up arrow icon in Safari) to access page saving options.
- Look for an option called “Add to Home Screen” or “Add Shortcut.” This option may be located under the “Share” or “More” menu.
- Tap on “Add to Home Screen” or “Add Shortcut.” A pop-up window may appear, asking you to confirm or customize the shortcut.
- Review the details of the new shortcut, like the name or icon, and make any desired changes.
- Once you’re satisfied, tap “Add” or “OK” to create the shortcut on your home screen.
- Your business card should now appear as an icon or tile on your home screen, just like any other app.
- Whenever you access your card, simply tap on the shortcut, and the browser will open directly to that webpage.
These specific steps may vary slightly depending on your device’s operating system and the web browser. However, most modern smartphones and browsers support this feature in a similar manner.
Need a card created or updated?
To have a card created for a staff member, submit a web request on Podio. Make sure to include the details you need on the card exactly as they should appear. Pro Tip: you can also submit changes to Podio using the form in the dropdown immediately below this paragraph.
Available card fields
- Name (prefix, first, last, suffix)*
- Pronouns
- Job Title*
- Notes (a field for staff like personal trainers to include certification information)
- Branch Name*
- Organization Name* (set to YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit)
- Work Email*
- Work phone* (set to location main phone number unless a direct number is available)
- Cell phone
- Work URL* (set to ymcadetroit.org by default)
- Address* (set to branch or association services address by default)
- Social links (set to branch/organization social profiles by default)
*default/required field
While our cards to allow for the inclusion of personal cell phones, there is no requirement to include this information. This field can included in a card if an employee’s supervisor authorizes it.
Current Business Cards
Photo for your card
Your photo should capture your head and photos in a traditional “school picture” headshot style, and present you as a welcoming YMCA professional. Image size should be at least 800 x 800 pixels, and should not include any obvious filters or image manipulation. Photos taken from a smartphone are usable as long as they are submitted at full size.
