This Fall the YMCA has some really cool programs for kids, tweens and teens. Programs and activities include – running, filmmaking, gaming, civics, and leadership. In addition we have some incredible group exercise classes and personal training options for adults to help you stay active and healthy this fall.

Our Fall Programs

Detroit Can Film Festival

Who: Youth ages 13 to 18 who live in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties

What: Create a video in 10.9 seconds or less, with the theme “How I Re-Emerge”

When:

  • Accepting submissions until October 15
  • festival will take place November 11

Where: Festival will be held at the Marlene Boll Theatre at the Boll Family YMCA and will live stream for those who wish to join us virtually

Detroit Swims

Who: Youth ages 5 to 14

What: Learn safety around water (a pre-cursor to swim lessons)

When: October 13 – December 1

Esports League

Who: Youth ages 11-17

What: Join an electronic sports league, and play competitive online video games like NBA2k and Rocket League and learn valuable problem solving and leadership skills

When: September 20 – November 11

Where: Various YMCA Locations

SportPort 

Who: Youth ages 5 to 13

What: Pop-up youth sports program where kids participate in free play and sports sampling such as basketball, soccer, lacrosse and more

When: September 21 – December 21

Girls on the Run

Who: Girls grades 3 to 8

What: A running program to help children strive for excellence, build character and make healthier life choices.

When: September 28 – November 21

Where: Various locations across Metro Detroit

STRIDE

Who: Boys grades 3 to 5

What: A running program to help children strive for excellence, build character and make healthier life choices

When: September 28 – November 21

Sports Classes and Swim Lessons

Who: Pre-School to Adults

What: Various sports (soccer, basketball, etc), dance, swimming

Youth in Government

Who: Youth in grades 6 to 12

What: Learn the ins and out of state government  — write legislation, run campaigns, and so much more

When: September 22, 2021 – May 31, 2022
