His first summer at camp, Demuari struggled greatly with his anger and with keeping his hands to himself. The staff and campers received very little warning as to what triggered his anger, making everyone a little bit on edge. At the very end of the summer, Demuari began to develop relationships with his counselors and directors and his behavior began to improve. When school started in the fall, he also started in Y Afterschool care. Demuari developed a very close relationship with his counselor at Y Care and was thrilled to see her at summer camp the following summer, along with the counselors he missed during the school year!
Demuari is now one of our most exemplary campers. He teaches his peers the core values, he gives others tips about how to manage their anger, and has found a passion for sports. He is now enrolled in sports camp for the summer when he is not at our traditional day camp!
