Disability Pride Month is celebrated in July to commemorate the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. At the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, we’re committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment in Metro Detroit where everyone can reach their full potential.

Signage

All branches are equipped with braille text signage throughout each building.

Entry and exits

All branches are wheelchair accessible and have ramps at each building’s entry and exit points.

Pool

Our pool areas have Color Rendition Index lighting to reduce light sensitivity-related incidents. Our pools also have a power lift chair to assist community members in and out of the pool. Some branch locations have a zero-depth entry area for direct pool access.

Our website is accessible to those who are visually impaired.
