Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Global Engagement
The Y is made up of people of all ages, from all walks of life, working side-by-side to strengthen communities. Together, we strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender expression, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. Our core values are caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and inclusion — they guide everything we do.
The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is committed to the development of strategies to operationalize diversity, inclusion, and global (DIEG) initiatives. As part of the national and our local focus, we are collectively strengthening support networks, fostering social connectedness, and mobilizing collective action and investment in our communities, which contribute to greater inclusion and equity for all.

EEOC & Hiring Practices
The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is an equal opportunity employer and seeks to be an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. The Y does not discriminate in recruitment, hiring or other terms or conditions of employment on the basis of race, color, gender, gender identity, sex, age, religion, national origin, genetic information, ethnicity, height, weight, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, military status or application or any other basis protected by state, federal or other applicable law.
Employee Resource Groups
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are groups of employees that form with a common bond, a shared characteristic or life experience. They provide support, help with career or personal development, and work to address issues inside and outside of the workplace. All ERG’s are open to everyone whether you are learner, supporter, or ally. The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit currently has 1 local ERG, and participates in national ERGs supported by YMCA of the USA.
