Soulmates cannot lie what they feel.
Sanda Cook, 2020
They just feel, they just love.
And they are magnets to each other,
loving and bringing light and grace
to each other’s lives.
Out of isolation comes togetherness.
Out of darkness comes yet another reason to return to the light.
Lovers in a dangerous time, under the same sky all around the world, send up a signal. In Italian, it’s simply “vinceremo”. In Arabic, “sawf nufuz” (سوف نفوز). In French, “nous gagnerons”. The language is no matter, however. For the message “we will win” is felt in the hearts of mankind, between two hearts that beat for each other, and felt in Sanda Cook’s new painted series, SOLACE.
Solace is defined as comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness. To take solace is to find a haven from grief. Sanda’s pieces convey lovers taking refuge in the love that surrounds them and the rest of the world. They take comfort in the beautiful things that still are and will always be. Father Sky will hold the moon to turn the tides. He will hold the sun that aids our mother, Mother Earth, in flourishing with green grass under our feet; onto which lovers do a harmonious dance with nature.
Spirit provides these enteral truths out of love for us. If the love of Spirit can keep the planet turning, surely our love is strong enough to conquer the pain brought by this pandemic. For love, truly, conquers all. Sanda’s intention to remind us of that beautiful truth is felt in every stroke of her brush.
This series displays love unbound by the confines of societal climate so that you too will feel free. These works are influenced by the divine grace that works to guide humans to regenerate and sanctify, to inspire virtuous impulses, and to impart strength that not only endures trial, but triumphs over it. Sanda’s latest artistry speaks to the triumph of the human spirit and the love we find in one another, even in isolation. For we are never isolated from love.
On a personal note, Sanda’s relentless quest to bring love and light to the world never ceases to inspire me. It evokes my inner healer to go forth and remedy the pain in mankind with my own love and light. I hope it evokes the same in you, so that we may create a momentum that keeps love reaching every heart and home. Without further ado, it is an honor to present to you this latest series, SOLACE, from one of the most revered artists in Metro Detroit, Sanda Cook

About Sanda Cook
Worlds collide each time Sanda’s brush touches canvas.
Hailed as one of the most prolific painters in Metro Detroit, her work is both locally and internationally renowned. This is only fitting seeing how it’s this wonderful world that inspires
her. Romanian-born, she studied art at the Brasor School of Arts.
Sanda’s art serves as a window into her journeys through Europe, Japan, and the United States. Love and beauty are abstract concepts that become realized through the color and light Sanda Cook paints them. Multicultural, metaphysical, and spiritual, her art is visually spellbinding and emotionally captivating.
On a mission to return the same love that Detroit (and the world) have shown her, her humanitarianism can be felt throughout her community. She’s heavily involved in charity events and donates her work whenever opportunity presents itself. For Sanda, it’s a way of feeling further connected to the people around her: “Art for me is a way of being alive, of connecting myself to the mysteries of the universe, nature, and the magnificent human soul.”
Aside from her charity involvement, her work has been featured on several mass media platforms. One of which includes a feature of her life and work on PBS’s, Detroit Performs. Other features to her credit are Live on D, Detroit’s Local 4 Today, USartboutique.com, fineartamerica.com, artistsofmichigan.org, over twenty solo shows, and over one-hundred international collection shows featuring artists from around the globe. Her work was displayed at The Sacrab Club, The Rivers Edge Gallery, Downriver Council of the Arts, The Carr Center for the Art, The Detroit Artist Market, Grosse Point Art Center, Ariana Gallery, 4731 Studios, and The Padzieski Art Gallery.
