    This week, the Y bid a fond farewell to nine young people who have spent the past five weeks sprucing up several of the YMCA branches throughout the Metro Detroit Association. They were here as part of the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) program.

    Members from the Livonia and Farmington Ys are hotly contesting the second edition of The Battle of Farmington Road this month, trying to rack up enough biking,, swimming and walking miles to allow Livonia to wrest back the trophy Farmington won during the first battle in December. And with all this working out, everyone wins.
