What members can do:
1. Members may workout in our wellness center utilizing industry standard exercise equipment at any one of our seven YMCA locations.
2. Members may register and attend group exercise classes. Register today. There are no additional charges for most group ex classes they are included in your membership.
3. Members may reserve pool time for lap or family swim. Reserve your lane today contact any one of our seven YMCA locations.
4. Members may reserve family gym time. Reserve your time at any one of our seven YMCA locations.
5. Members may use locker rooms for showering, changing and storing personal items during their exercise times (locker rooms are fully free)
6. Members may download and use our mobile app; use it and earn points to win cool prizes. Keep reading to access links to the app.
7. Members may access our online virtual YMCA. See YMCA instructors live or watch pre-recorded sessions.
8. Children and youth members ages 5 to 13 can participate in supervised sports sampling. Register today.
9. Non-contact sports is back like Pickleball and Racquetball.
10. Pass the word – encourage a friend to join. Our February promotion includes:
50% first month dues and no joiner fees for new members and a free Y gift for the referring member. Also, families who earn less than $50,000 annually may join Y For All to receive a lower membership rate. We are also enrolling members of Silver Sneakers, Silver and Fit, Renew Active and Peer Fit Move at no cost to the member.

Youth Development Updates
Child Watch Coming Soon
We are truly excited to announce that Child Watch will be opening at all 7 of our YMCAs through a phase opening process. Contact your YMCA to get your Child Watch schedule. Child Watch is a free service for all YMCA members. Presently, child watch is open at the South Oakland YMCA and it will be opening Sunday March 1, 2020.
Child Watch provides a safe place for children to learn and play while their parent/guardian exercise at the YMCA. We comply with all CDC and Michigan health department guidelines to keep people safe in our facilities. Child Watch hours of operation will vary by branch and children may remain in child watch for a maximum of 2 hours.
Free preschool is available for 4 year olds
Free pre-school is available for 4 year olds from low moderate and high income families at the Boll Family YMCA located in downtown Detroit. Michigan residency is the only residency requirement. It does not matter if the child has not previously attended school. The child must however be potty trained and age 4 by last December 1, 2020. Lastly, the parent’s household income must not exceed $104,000. This is a great way to ensure your 4 year old enters school ready to learn. Learn if you qualify here.
Our childcare centers located at our Farmington YMCA and our Boll YMCA are enrolling children today ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Our centers comply with all CDC and state health department guidelines to keep children and families safe. Y Arts Media Club for youth ages 13 to 18
Looking for some creative fun for your teen? Please, encourage them to join the Y Arts media Club. Youth will learn to create television, radio, and online content from local media arts professionals in a virtual environment. February is packed with opportunities to learn, love, and live.
LEARN – African History Month gives us an opportunity to learn about the many contributions African Americans have given society. This occasion was started in 1925 as the brainchild of Carter G. Woodson. Learn more here.
LOVE – Valentines Day beckons us to let our loved ones know we care. There are many speculations on the origins of the holiday and who was the real St. Valentine. Check out the History Channel report for more.
You can also show our children you love them by running with your heart as we tackle 26.2 in 28 days in the Love2Run Virtual Marathon benefiting Girls on the Run of Greater Detroit. LIVE – Heart Health Month is a call to action for all Americans to take preventive and intervention action to eradicate the leading cause of death in the US–Heart disease, according to the CDC. The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is committed to community. In 2019 we established a commitment to Diversity Inclusion Equity and Global work. It is our aim to help create healthier communities through a host of informative and interactive virtual and eventually (when it is safe), in person activities and programs to help strengthen our community. Beginning with African American History Month February 2021, we will kickoff celebrating the diverse groups of people that contribute to our world. Last year your YMCA of Metropolitan worked hard to support our community in navigating the pandemic in 2020. Next month we look forward to sharing with you our 2020 Community Impact Report. Highlights: we served over 200,000 meals and provided learning opportunities to over 7,000 children in metropolitan Detroit.
