The Boll Family YMCA played a key role in shaping my kids, helping them grow into future leaders in our community
Why is the YMCA important to the Detroit community?
The Boll YMCA is so important to our community! I always tell my friends that this isn’t your typical gym. It’s a place that helps shape our young kids, giving them tools to thrive now and in the future. The swim program, in particular, is a huge win – providing kids in an urban setting the chance to learn how to swim and feel confident in the water.
How has the YMCA impacted your life personally?
The Boll had a huge impact on both myself and my kids when they were younger. The Y helped shape their lives, build confidence and taught them the importance of exercise and social interaction with other families. I will always speak highly of the Boll and support it in any way I can. It’s truly a jewel in the Detroit community!
What’s your favorite memory from your time at the YMCA?
Personally, serving on the Board has been a rewarding experience. I’ve built strong friendships with my fellow board members and have been proud to support the Boll both financially and through dialogue. I also loved working out there and watching my kids have fun – often begging us to take them to the Y.
In one sentence, what does the YMCA mean to you?
The Boll means so much to me – it played a key role in shaping and nurturing my kids, helping them grow into future leaders in our local community.
If you had to describe the YMCA community in three words, what would they be?
Nurturing. Shaping. Love.
