In this class, school-age swimmers will learn the following: Stage Four: Front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke kick, butterfly kick, treading water, elementary backstroke.Stage Five: Stroke technique, major competitive strokes, treading water and sidestroke.Stage Six: Refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.Participants must have completed stage 3 prior to registering for this class and be able to swim at least 25 yards on their own.

- Dates: 5/14/24–6/25/24The Sea Monsters swim club is for kids ages 8-12 who are transitioning from swim lessons to the sport of swimming. Coaches refine the participants skills in the four competitive strokes. Participants will learn stroke drills, competitive turns, dives and streamlines all whiles improving their strength and endurance. Most importantly, kids on Sea Monsters will learn that success in swimming is about personal accomplishments and self improvement. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping and have a basic knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes.

Parents accompany children in stage A, Water Discovery, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.

- Dates: 5/15/24This is a deep water workout for all fitness levels. Enjoy a workout while suspended in the deep end of the pool wearing a flotation belt. The balanced workout includes strength exercises, toning, and flexibility. Intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Participants must be comfortable in deep water. Reminder that one individual can register for 2 water fit classes per day. If Southgate Community Schools close due to weather conditions, all morning classes and programs will be canceled.

- Dates: 5/15/24–5/19/24The American Red Cross Certification is a comprehensive course that includes complete CPR/First Aid/AED Training. Practical hands-on training, in conjunction with scenario based training, provides for an experiential training content. When practicing rescue skills for an unconscious victim, not only are we practicing water skills, but also implementing AR/CPR/UNCONSCIOUS CHOKING, First Aid skills, and AED use, all in a single scenario based emergency simulation. All of the skills are integrated. CPR/First Aid/AED/ are not strictly classroom based. The textbook information is covered in a classroom setting, however, these skills are then integrated and practiced repeatedly, in scenario based simulated emergencies. These simulated events are never the same; all elements of the skill base must be utilized in order to be successful, and lifeguards must complete given tactile, hands-on, practice with simulated events and real people. Blended learning (Online training) with in-person test out. Online training will be sent via email upon registration and must be 100% complete to attend the in-person training.

The balanced workout includes strength exercises, toning, and flexibility. Intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Participants must be comfortable in deep water. Reminder that one individual can register for 2 water fit classes per day. If Southgate Community Schools close due to weather conditions, all morning classes and programs will be canceled.

Coaches refine the participants skills in the four competitive strokes. Participants will learn stroke drills, competitive turns, dives and streamlines all whiles improving their strength and endurance. Most importantly, kids on Sea Monsters will learn that success in swimming is about personal accomplishments and self improvement. Participants must be able to swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping and have a basic knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes.

30mHipHop RegisterDates: 5/4/24–6/22/24Hip Hop is a fast, high energy type of dance seen in music videos and commercials. Dance moves seen in performances by artists such as Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber and J Lo would be typical examples of Hip Hop. In this class, students learn the necessary elements of jazz which are crucial to succeed in Hip Hop. Students will learn coordination, balance, and the ability to memorize routines. From one age level to the next, classes expand into more complex moves and routines.
