All kids have great potential. At the Y, a leading nonprofit strengthening community through youth development, we work every day to help them set and achieve their personal and educational goals. Through our leadership and academic enrichment programs such as mentoring, Youth and Government and college preparation, the Y makes sure that every child has an opportunity to envision and pursue a positive future, and to take an active role in strengthening his or her community.
Youth Volunteer Corps ages 11 & up
The Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) is a way for young people to help others, have some fun, and learn something while doing it. Volunteers will learn about their community, job opportunities and themselves by participating in exciting, challenging, and worthwhile service projects.
We know kids are pretty busy these days, so the amount of time spent as a Youth Volunteer is all up to the individual. We work on projects year-round so volunteers can join us for as many of them as they’d like. All YVC projects involve a team of young people working with YMCA staff.
YVC is constantly changing into a more in-depth program that fits so well into the values of the YMCA, and focuses on building up the entire person. YVC offers more than community service hours; it is a way to intentionally expand ideas and boundaries of the youth involved.
