The YMCA is a national leader in swim instruction and water safety. YMCA adaptive swimming programs are designed to teach personal water safety and swimming skills to everyone. Our instructors are nationally certified in aquatic safety and swim instruction.
This program offers the opportunity to learn to swim, stay fit, and have fun in a safe and relaxed environment. Our certified YMCA swimming instructors provide exceptional guidance and can provide instruction for a variety of special needs. Previous experience in swimming is not required. Participants are enrolled in either a private or small group depending on their specific needs and abilities. Dates are by appointment only.
The Y offers adaptive lessons modified for individuals with special needs. Our C.A.R.E.S. program is for beginner to advanced swimmers. Specialty classes designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities, C.A.R.E.S. lessons teach swim and safety skills, swim techniques, and socialization through games or activities, while emphasizing the Y Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
With one-on-one attention for those with special needs, Goldfish lessons are adjusted to fit the specific needs of the student.
We've partnered with The ACTIVE® Network to provide easy program registration for Y Members and Community participants.
