Kindermusik is the world’s largest music and movement program for young children. Each class is for a specific age or developmental phase of a child’s life, and Kindermusik at the Y offers classes from birth to age 5 that provide opportunities for singing, dancing, vocal play, storytime, object and musical instrument exploration, circle dances, creative movement, and imaginary play!

Our Art in Schools program offers a wide variety of during and after-school art classes. We bring gifted local professional artists to schools that have limited or no arts programs.

The Improv Project

In partnership with the Detroit Creativity Project, The Improv Project teaches youth about improvisational comedy and is meant to help fill the gap created by arts funding cuts public schools. Not only is improv frequently incredibly hilarious, it’s also a fantastic way to teach teamwork and creativity. Students who have gone through the program say their confidence, empathy and even their investment in school is much higher.

Youth Theatre

Explore the world of Theatre through music, storytelling, props, and crafts. Kids have the opportunity to develop confidence learning acting skills, and explore creativity by writing their own plays.
