If your local Y seemed even more busy than usual this weekend, there was a reason for that…all the YMCAs across the Metro Detroit Association celebrated Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 26. The annual event is meant to draw attention to the importance of physical activity for children
On Saturday the Y celebrates its commitment to healthy habits for children and families by hosting Healthy Kids Day. Branches will offer free food, exercise classes, and more for children and their parents.
Get ready: Healthy Kids Day is taking over the Y next weekend. The Y holds Healthy Kids Day every year to teach families healthy habits in a fun way. There will be swim lessons, bounce houses and healthy cooking demos, depending on the branch. But all this fun has a purpose …to address kid’s risk for childhood obesity and summer learning loss.
In some way or another, our lives have been touched by the three things that make the Y community so strong: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. By listening to each other's stories, we're able to catch a glimpse of all the hope, strength, and determination across southeast Michigan and how everyone's living the Y's values.
