Programs like Yoga and dance give kids the opportunity to stay active, improve balance and coordination, and have fun!

  • Youth Yoga  Kids Yoga is a fun that uses a kid-friendly method to achieve the same benefits as our adult Yoga classes: strength, flexibility, and a sense of calm & happiness.
  • Youth Zumba  A kid-friendly version of the popular aerobic dance class that keeps kids moving and smiling.
  • Adaptive Youth Fitness  For individuals with special needs, participation in sports and recreational activities means even more as it also increases their self-worth, builds lasting friendships and offers an oasis from everyday struggles.

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls ages eight to thirteen that combines training for a 5K with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The program runs after school, both in schools and at YMCA locations, and provides girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.

STRIDE

A fun, after school character development program for boys in 3rd-5th grade that focuses on doing one’s personal best. The ten-week program is led by volunteer coaches who guide and mentor the boys through an uplifting and physical curriculum that covers different topics such as positive sportsmanship, goal setting, bullying, and making healthy choices.

Youth Rock Climbing

For kids, rock climbing can be a safe and exciting challenge. At our Ys, kids can safely learn the techniques and skills of climbing on our indoor rock walls. Our Ys offer both structured climbing classes and open climbing.

We currently have indoor rock walls at the Boll Family YMCA and the Downriver Family YMCA.

Youth Dance

Dance cultivates an appreciation for artistry while building coordination and confidence in kids. Our Ys offer dance programs for kids ages 1 to 12 in a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and more.
