The pool is great for exercise because the water offers resistance while reducing the impact of land-based exercises. Water fitness classes are a fun way to exercise, and the low-impact workout builds strength and flexibility for people of all ages. Our Ys water fitness classes use a variety of exercises and equipment. Activities may include dance, calisthenics, walking, and kicking, and typically intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Classes may take place in shallow water, deep water or a combination of shallow and deep water.

Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program

This class focuses on building strength, balance, and flexibility for those with arthritis, and uses unique equipment and low impact exercises to help participants get a work out while not causing additional pain. Classes are instructed by a certified Arthritis Foundation instructor.

Silver Splash

From the designers of Silver Sneakers, Silver Splash Programs are specially designed classes incorporate flexibility, strength, cardiovascular endurance and fun into every session. Participants go through gentle exercises in warm water. These movements have many benefits for active older adults and the no impact exercises reduce the pain due to arthritis and other physical conditions. No swimming ability is needed. Class may take place in shallow water, deep water or a combination of shallow and deep water.

Aqua Zumba®

Known as the Zumba “pool party,” Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.

Water Pilates

This workout is designed to utilize water to develop and tone muscles, strengthen and shape core muscles, and improve posture, stamina and flexibility.

Aquatic Core Strengthening

This water exercise class strengthens and tones all muscle groups concentrating on the core muscles, with special attention to the abdomen and back. May be conducted with equipment in deep and/or shallow water.

Deep Water Fitness

A deep water workout for all fitness levels. Enjoy a workout while suspended in the deep end of the pool with equipment to keep you afloat. The balanced workout includes warm-up, aerobic, cool-down, strength and toning, and flexibility. Intensity is easily adjusted for all levels of fitness.

Shallow Water Fitness

A complete water fitness class using a variety of exercises and equipment. Activities may include dance, calisthenics, walking, and kicking. Intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Each class consists of warm-up, aerobic, cool-down, muscle toning and flexibility segments.

Aqua Burn

Aqua Burn is a high-intensity water aerobics class that strengthens and tones all muscle groups concentrating on the core muscles, with special attention to the abdomen and back. The instructor uses deep and shallow water and equipment to add resistance and intensity.
