ADVENTURE GUIDES

Explore Life Together.

Adventure Guides programs launch parents and their children on a journey of discovery, with the child as the explorer and the parent as the guide.

By providing opportunities and resources for parents to spend one-on-one time in a fun, special environment, Adventure Guides build important bonds through shared experiences.

Are you looking for a great opportunity to spend quality time with your child while doing some fun activities and getting to know other families? Then the YMCA Adventure Guides program is for you. YMCA Adventure Guides is a parent-child program designed to help foster a lifetime of understanding and friendship and to strengthen the relationship between children and parents.

As a member of YMCA Adventure Guides, you will have the opportunity to develop a stronger relationship with your child by joining a unique “Circle” with whom you’ll participate in activities like games, camping trips, ceremonies and family adventures. You and your child will take a journey of discovery and learning. Throughout this journey the Adventure Guide compass points – family, nature, community, fun and the YMCA character development values – will provide a sense of direction and inspiration for activities.

As a member, you will be able to participate in larger scale activities such as weekend campouts, parties or parades. Conducting group exercises in the Circle fosters leadership, problem-solving, group work skills. This year there will be a greater focus placed on the community component of the program as an emphasis will be placed on community service and charitable giving – all of which reinforce the YMCA’s pledge to strengthen the foundations of our community.

The Macomb Y currently is not running this program but is interested in starting it up. If you are interested in being involved or have more questions, please contact us.
