SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE

Our Y provides after school programs so kids can be active, learn new skills and build friendships while developing character through play.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit serves neighborhoods throughout Southeastern Michigan communities in partnership with local academies and Public School Districts by offering affordable school age child care programs to families.

With a focus on safety, health, social growth and academic enhancement, Y School Age Child Care serves kindergartners through middle schoolers with a variety of programmatic and activity options to explore and develop their interests and talents. These programs deliver a safe, secure, inclusive environment with staff committed to nurturing the potential of each child in our program.

Program Goals

The activities and atmosphere of the program are designed to meet the developmental, academic, physical, emotional, and social needs of the children served. Each YMCA Child Care Site Supervisor develops a specific schedule to meet the particular needs of the children at their site. The program includes all of the following*:

  • Homework Help
  • Reading activities
  • Recreational Time
  • Arts and Crafts (Tuesdays and Fridays)
  • KidzLit reading program

*These activities and times/days are subject to change.
