ADULT WATER FITNESS

Take to the water for fun and fitness! We offer a variety of water fitness programs for all fitness levels—and you don't have to be a swimmer to participate! The aquatic exercise programs—which take place mainly in the shallow water— range from joint range of motion classes to high intensity aerobic classes. Exercising in the water provides a challenging workout in a near weightless and zero impact environment.

Water Fitness

You can take shallow water fitness classes with a variety of difficulty levels. We have Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 to provide a range of challenges for all abilities.

Complete water fitness class using a variety of exercises and equipment. Activities may include dance, calisthenics, walking, and kicking. Intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Each class consists of warm-up, aerobic, cool-down, muscle toning and flexibility segments. Class may take place in shallow water, deep water or a combination of shallow and deep water.

Senior Water Exercise

A class designed for seniors who want a full body, low impact workout. The class is set in waist to chest deep water, and participants will use the water’s natural resistance to gain flexibility and strength.

Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program

This takes place in the Therapy Pool and focuses on building strength, balance, and flexibility for those with arthritis. The class uses exercises to help participants get a full body workout while not causing additional pain. All exercises are low impact. This class is led by a certified Arthritis Foundation instructor.

Water Core Strengthening

This water exercise class strengthens and tones all muscle groups concentrating on the core muscles, with special attention to the abdomen and back. May be conducted in deep and/or shallow water.

Yagua

This class takes place in the Therapy Pool. A relaxing class designed to increase flexibility and balance, Yagua challenges you to maintain core stabilization and postural alignment, using meditation and stress reducing techniques.

Gentle Aqua / Easy Does It

This class is conducted in the Therapy Pool. It provides a combination of stretching and lighter aerobic activity to increase heart rate and develop muscle tone. Focusing on posture, flexibility, and balance, members participate at their own pace. Equipment may be used.

Aqua Tone

This class takes place in shallow end of the lap pool. It consists of cardiovascular conditioning and strength training at a moderate pace allowing for strengthening and toning of muscles. Equipment may be used.

Aqua Deep

This is a deep water workout for all fitness levels. Enjoy a workout while suspended in the deep end of the pool wearing a flotation belt. The balanced workout includes strength exercises, toning, and flexibility. Intensity and impact can be varied on an individual basis. Participants must be comfortable in deep water.

Aqua Burn

This class takes place in the Lap pool on Monday and Wednesday and the Therapy pool on Friday. This water exercise class strengthens and tones all muscle groups concentrating on the core muscles, with special attention to the abdomen and back. This class includes resistance training by using noodles and other equipment.

Aqua Core

This class takes place in the lap pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It utilizes the entire lap pool. Fins, kickboards, and hand buoys will all be used for this class. Participants must be comfortable in deep water.

Intense Aqua

This class takes place in the lap pool. This class offers accelerated interval training to provide cardiovascular conditioning while improve muscle tone and strength. Participants use flotation devices to give added resistance. It is a total body workout. This class may use music to help obtain and sustain target heart rate during the entire workout.
