Our Swimming Pools
We have three swimming pools available for members: the Indoor Pool, the Indoor Therapeutic Pool and the outdoor Southgate Splash Park.
Indoor Pool
Our Indoor Pool is a multi-use pool that features a 25 yard lap lane section, a water slide, and a zero depth entry and fountain area. The pool temperature is maintained between 83-85 degrees. The YMCA provides lifejackets for swimmers of any size.
Indoor Therapeutic Pool
Our Therapeutic Pool is designed to give people a place to relax after a workout, or simply revive aching joints and muscles. The pool water is maintained at the Arthritis Foundation’s recommended 94° F. The Therapeutic Pool also features several water jets that are perfect for massaging muscles. The combination of the warm water and massaging jets make the pool perfect for long relaxing experience.
Southgate Splash Park
Attached to our facility is the Southgate Splash Park Pool. The Splash Park has a lap lane section, a zero depth entry and fountains section, and a water slide. Deck chairs and umbrellas are available. The Splash Park also has its own café and picnic area, so it is the perfect place to hang out all summer. All Y family members receive a free season pass to the Splash Park.
Lifeguards are always on duty in all of our aquatic areas
Sauna
In the general mens and womens lockerooms there is a dry sauna available for members use anytime the facility is open
Health & Wellness Center
We boast two fully equipped fitness centers which includes circuit training machines, a free motion low impact circuit, and free weights. For cardio equipment we offer stationary and recumbent bikes, treadmills, elliptical treadmills, arc trainers, Espresso fitness bikes, and spinning bikes. Free workout towels are provided.
Indoor Running & Walking Track
Our track is always available for walking and running during operating hours. 10 laps equal one mile. Soft sole shoes only please.
Gymnasium
Located on the main floor, our gymnasium almost always has something going on, including our adult pickup basketball league. Basketballs are available during open gym. Soft sole shoes only please. Check out the current monthly schedules on our programs page or stop by the Welcome Center.
Child Watch Center
Care is provided for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years while parents are in the facility exercising. There is a two hour time limit per child. Space is limited and a waiting list will be taken (first come, first served) during peak hours. Please check with the attendant for the next available opening. Parents must remain in the Y at all times. Child watch is a free benefit to members. See Child Watch for more information.
Locker Rooms
The Downriver Family YMCA offers Lockerooms available to members whenever the facility is open. We feature a general men’s and women’s lockeroom as well our Family Lockeroom which has private bathroom, shower, and changing facilities.
Elevator
We have an elevator available to members at all times.
