College Tour Seeks Sponsors

Every year, MY-Y staff take a busload of 45 students on a tour of Southern colleges and universities. They visit both historically black colleges and universities such as Spelman and Morehouse, as well as mainstream universities such as Vanderbilt and Clemson. They are seeking sponsorships to defray the $725 fee for the tour for students who can’t afford the full cost, and students are selling candy to raise funds as well.

I-Rise Families Walk for Warmth

Families who participate in the I-Rise family empowerment program at the Boll, Farmington, Lakeshore and Downriver branches joined forces to raise money for families who are struggling. A team of 12 walkers participated in the Wayne Metro Community Action Agency’s annual “Walk for Warmth” at Ford Field. They raised more than $125 to help families pay their heating bills this winter.
