SWIM TEAM

Joining a swim team develops confidence and self-discipline in kids. Besides learning new skills, kids build comraderie and enjoy the challenge of racing in the pool.

Y swim teams emphasize the value of competition through teamwork, sportsmanship and doing one's best. Our swim coaches strive to offer a well-rounded, values-centered program for every level of swimmer.

The Tiger Sharks Swim Team is a low-key competitive program that provides skill development, endurance, sportsmanship and fun. All swimmers are eligible to compete in the swim meets that are offered one time per session. Any meets that we host are held at the Livonia YMCA on a Saturday evening. Swimmers will need swimsuits, goggles and a towel for practices and meets. Tiger Shark swim caps are provided to each new swimmer. Additional caps are available for a small fee.

Tiger Sharks Swim Team

This swim team is for kids new to competitive swimming. It’s great for first time swim team members who have graduated from Youth Swim Lessons or the Preschool Pre-Team class. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the lap pool doing freestyle and/or backstroke, know the butterfly and breaststroke and be fairly good at dives and open turns. This is an instructional level, so that swimmers can still learn their strokes.
