Group Exercise Instructor

The Birmingham Family YMCA is seeking experienced Group Exercise Instructors to join our team. Qualifications include a nationally recognized group exercise certification as well as CPR certification to apply. We are looking for instructors in the following areas: Zumba, Hi/Lo aerobics, Step & Sculpt and Pilates. Both morning and evening classes are available.

Personal Trainer

The Birmingham Family YMCA is looking for Nationally Certified Personal Trainers to join our team. Looking for self-motivated individuals with the desire to grow a “fee-for-service” client base. Must have nationally recognized certification, a good knowledge of kinesiology and physiology and the ability to work with members of all ages and fitness levels.

Maintenance/Generalist

Great opportunity for a goal-oriented, team player, who will help maintain the YMCA buildings, equipment, and grounds in good repair and cleanliness.
 

Courtesy Counter Attendant

Seeking motivated team players for part-time customer relations positions. This position is responsible for providing friendly, courteous and helpful service to members and participants. Responsibilities include greeting and verifying members, processing registrations and payments, assisting with membership initiatives, maintaining lobby areas, opening and closing duties and other duties as necessary.
 
Experience in customer service is preferred. Applicant must have strong clerical skills, flexibility and be able to adapt to change. Must have ability to effectively communicate both in person and over the phone. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Weekend shifts may be required as well.

Lifeguard

The Birmingham Family YMCA is looking for lifeguards that are responsible for ensuring the safety of all members and program participants within the aquatic facility by being on the guard stand or patrolling. He/she will be responsible for carrying out and enforcing aquatic policies and procedures in compliance with the statutes as described by the State of Michigan, the YMCA of the USA, Jeff Ellis and Associates and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.

Swim Instructor

A swim instructor is responsible for teaching all levels of the National YMCA Swim Lesson program. This person will keep accurate attendance records, develop lesson plans and distribute family huddles and progress reports to all swimmers as well as evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all swimmers. The swim instructor must also be able to motivate, evaluate and communicate with all age groups.

Sports Instructors

The Birmingham Family YMCA is looking for an energetic, active and mission driven individual to join our sports staff. This position works directly with the youth of our community, providing supervision and programming. A sports background, coaching and/or officiating experience is necessary. Must be at least 16 years of age. Programs may run outside during cold, snowy, wet or windy weather, so must be able to work in these conditions. Must be available evenings and weekends.
